Shakespeare could not have foreseen where or how strife between White Rose and Red Rose loyalists would break out again. It happen in 1906 on a minor-league baseball diamond in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the Red Rose City. In their first game ever against the White Roses of York, Pennsylvania's White Rose City, Lancaster's Red Roses won 9 - 4. This rivalry lasted until 1961. No one ever tried to merge the clubs in a 'York and Lancaster' hybrid with bi color uniforms, although a Susquehanna Valley rugby-football club with members from both cities was organized in 2000 as the York & Lancaster Roses. The sister team for women plays as the York & Lancaster Thorns.
