No patriotic Frenchman would give a name like this to a rose unless it was sensational, and back in 1867, 'La France' certainly was. It was the first of a new class, the Hybrid Teas, which combined the grace and elegance of the Teas with the vigor and hardiness of the Hybrid Perpetuals.
