Bloom of the Day

Mutabilis, China
The origins of this wonderful rose are something of a mystery.  It was introduced by Swiss botanist Henri Correvon in 1932, having been presented to him by Prince Borromeo of Italy 40 years before.  Whether it originated in the prince's great gardens at Isola Bella, on Italy's Lake Maggiore, or in China, no one knows.  The blooms open Tea Rose yellow but pass to pink, carmine and crimson, creating a tapestry of different colors.
There is no other rose quite like it.
